Haniqa Antivia Rahardjo

(2003)

Haniqa Rahardjo is an emerging Indonesian artist who is currently a senior at British School Jakarta. Her early exposure to the Arts develops her passion for expressing ideas, emotions, and concepts through visual forms. She believes that pursuing art provides her with a medium that can manifest so much of what people fail to see and has the power to deconstruct the ignorant mindsets that suppress awareness of even our most immediate surroundings. Therefore, by attentively observing her surroundings and remaining conscious of global issues, Haniqa’s work explores the dismantling of underlying social concerns- whether it be minor, daily issues, or even accounts outside of her personal experiences relevant to outlying and global communities. For Haniqa, reshaping how people perceive the world provides her with a lasting sense of competence and motivation to continue creating and exhibiting concepts that are often overlooked in society.

Haniqa Rahardjo is an experimental artist whose works explore contemporary social issues; these range from economic disparities, ignorance towards environmental destruction, cultural dissipation, and political inequalities. Inspired by contemporary artists such as Preston Paperboy and Emilio Vilalba, her artworks take inspiration from their style by incorporating a mixture of collage, photorealism, and contemporary elements such as abstract, graffiti-like visuals. She utilizes art as a medium to express overlooked and undiscussed topics, allowing viewers to gain awareness of the convoluted world around them. Her desire to shed light on globally relevant matters and her message to be heard goes for unconventional and interesting ways of presenting that lead viewers to see issues from a different standpoint.
